The main focus of the visit was the viaduct that will connect the Sto. Ovídio area to the future Manuel Leão station.
Minister Duarte Cordeiro and the mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, attended a guided tour led by Metro's president, Tiago Braga, of the viaduct that will link this area of Gaia to the future Manuel Leão station. The viaduct in question is a work of engineering art, a demanding structural solution consisting of a mixed deck (steel/concrete) materialised by two upper metal trusses of the "Warren" beam type.
The current Yellow Line connects São João Hospital in Porto and Sto. Ovídio in V.N. de Gaia, and with its expansion the line will extend to Vila d'Este. The works to extend the Yellow Line are now in their final stages.
