Another crucial step for the extension of the Yellow Line has been taken.

After the conclusion, in May, of the stretch between Santo Ovídio and Manuel Leão, the underground stretch between the latter station and Santos Silva Hospital was finished in November.

This concludes the excavation of the 800 metres of tunnel that this project gathers together. The tunnel was built without the use of any tunnel boring machine, adopting a gradual advance method the NATM "New Austrian tunnelling method", that is, a method of successive excavation. The works involving underground work in Gaia thus come to an end
